Sophia Vari in the Casino Gardens
Renowned Greek artist Sophia Vari exhibits her works in major cities all over the world. She has found a new setting for her art in the Principality, in the Casino Gardens, known as the Jardins des Boulingrins. 15 of her monumental works will be exhibited there throughout the summer. These abstract, geometric bronze sculptures reveal the contemporary visual language of this artist, who was born in Athens in 1940 and is strongly influenced by early Mediterranean culture.

Kees Van Dongen at the NMNM
The New National Museum of Monaco (NMNM) pays tribute to Kees Van Dongen (1877-1968), who spent the latter part of his life in Monaco, having moved there in 1947. The 200 works on display come from private collections and other museums, as well as major works recently acquired by the NMNM. Some have not been exhibited to the public for almost a century. This retrospective confirms Kees Van Dongen’s decisive influence during the first fifteen years of the 20th Century and his unique role as a portrait artist within the Fauvism movement.
From June 25th to September 7th 2008 Salle d’Exposition du 4, Quai Antoine Ier Open to the public every day from 12 pm to 7 pm

Polar Ice at Monaco’s Oceanographic Museum
The Oceanographic Museum is an exceptional location dedicated entirely to the sea. Its mission is to develop oceanography and promote it to as wide an audience as possible. The aquarium, founded in 1903, is one of the oldest in Europe, with a collection of 350 fish species, 200 invertebrate species and 100 species of tropical corals all presented in their faithfully reconstructed ecosystems. As part of the 4th International Polar Year, this summer’s temporary exhibition - “Polar Ice for Future Generations”- immerses visitors in the rich but fragile polar worlds of the Arctic and Antarctic.
